The cornea, lens and fluids in a child’s eye are much clearer allowing more light to reach the retina, therefore the need to protect children's eyes as much as possible. As people age, their natural lens becomes more protective. At Keedo (a leading clothing manufacturer in South Africa) we believe in letting kids be kids. Most Keedo kids also love the outdoors and nature. In fact, we try and create an appreciation of nature by children through the use of whimsical prints and vivid colours in our garments. But, with being nature loving come the responsibility to also look after ourselves and especially our eyes. Herewith some tips to increase sun safety for kids: 1. Try and avoid being in the sun from 11:00 - 15:00 in summer 2. Do not expose babies younger than one year of age to any intense, direct sunlight 3. Help teach children to be Sun-Smart and to protect themselves against the sun as sun damage is irreversible 4. When purchasing sunglasses for your child, always look out for sunglasses with at least 400 UV Ray protection, the CE mark (European Standard) and Polycarbonated lenses (won’t shatter on impact). 5.
